ศาลสถิตยุติธรรม : The Court of Justice

ศาลสถิตยุติธรรม ในโอกาสที่กรุงเทพมหานครมีอายุครบ ๑๐๐ ปี ซึ่งตรงกับวันที่ ๒๑ เมษายน ค.ศ ๑๘๘๒ พระบาทสมเด็จพระจุลจอมเกล้าเจ้าอยู่หัวเสด็จพระราชดำเนินทางขบวนพยุหยาตรามาวางศิลา ก่อพระฤกษ์อาคารศาลสถิตย์ยุติธรรม และทรงโปรดฯให้จารึกพระราชปรารภในการสร้างศาลสถิตย์ยุติธรรมไว้ในแผ่นเงิน ซึ่งเรียกว่า "หิรัญบัตร" จำนวน ๔ แผ่น ฝังอยู่ใต้อาคารศาลสถิตย์ยุติธรรม ข้อความในหิรัญบัตรแสดงให้เห็นถึงพระบรมราโชบายในการปกครองแผ่นดินว่ามีพระราชประสงค์ให้ตั้งศาลขึ้น เพื่อทำหน้าที่วินิจฉัยชี้ขาดอรรถคดี ทรงเล็งเห็นว่าบ้านเมืองจะอยู่ด้วยความสงบสุขร่มเย็นต้องอาศัยการศาลเป็นสำคัญ The Court of Justice On the occasion of Bangkok's 100th anniversary, which fell on April 21, 1882, His Majesty King Chulalongkorn proceeded via a royal barge procession to preside over the foundation stone laying ceremony for the Court of Justice building. He commanded that his royal initiative for the construction of the Court of Justice be inscribed on four silver plates, known as "Hiranyabutr," which were buried beneath the building. The text on the silver plates reveals the royal policy on the governance of the kingdom, expressing his wish to establish a court to adjudicate cases, having foreseen that the judiciary was essential for the peace and happiness of the country.
